Login to the server through the terminal, Create a separate folder for custom modules (If already available, then not required) in the server, then copy the customized app to the folder and add the custom module folder path to the .conf file. Then restart the Odoo Service.
To install the default app go to the App menu select the required app and click install.
To install a custom module follow the above process and Go to settings -> Activate Developer Mode. Once developer mode is activated, Go to Apps -> Update Apps list. Once you updated, select the custom app and install the same.
In Community all the default apps are free to use and there is no licensing fee whereas in enterprise some apps are free if you have a subscription. To know more about free apps in enterprise edition check the odoo.com/pricing. The module which is not listed in the above links are free to use
Regarding the third-party app, both free and paid apps are available in Odoo Store. You can download the app according to your need.
It's based on the module and Author. Most of the modules can be used. Please check with the Author before you purchase the app.
Enable Developer Mode from Settings, then go to Apps and click “Update Apps List.” After refreshing, you can upgrade any app if an update is available.
New apps are available in the Odoo Apps menu. You can also download modules from the Odoo App Store, add them to your custom addons folder, update the apps list, and install them.
If you install from Apps menu, no restart is needed. But if you manually add a custom module, restart the Odoo service and update the apps list.
